The blossom that ate Minneapolis

This is a Datura blossom. I got this plant for free from a lady in Camden, thanks to Craigslist.

I've never EVER seen a flowerbud this long.

I present: my house key, for scale.

Or better yet, my finger.

Note: I took these pics a couple of days ago, and the thing has grown at least two inches since then.

I can't wait to see it open!!!!

Datura?

It's lucky Carlos Castenada isn't still alive or he'd be over your yard in a flash to mash and strain the roots using a clay pestle and mortar, in preparation for a dangerous psychic voyage in the spirit world.

Seriously, people used to complain about it all the time. The police couldn't do anything because he was magic.

Yes it opened, along with a second bloom, and it was gorgeous!

Luckily nobody on my block knows what Datura is, so KEEP QUIET, Teucer!! The last thing I need is the neighbor kids tripping out on my flowers... or being poisoned to death in their attempts.
