Under $25,000 Home Tour

A while back I mentioned that there are a whole bunch of REALLY cheap houses for sale at the moment, many of which are located in North Minneapolis.

Remember? Very good.

Anyway, a couple of lovely gentlemen from Minnpost found this particularly interesting, and asked if they could see a few such houses. I obliged, and they made a video about it.

Here it is:

This reminds me so much of the town I live in. It breaks my heart to see these houses in such bad repair. Hopefully, that low, low sticker price will attract some love and care!

Baltimore has plenty for this price too. The houses in the video look much better than the ones here though.

Great video, Connie. I'm going to link to it from my blog.

I hope so too Amalie, and that's why I'm trying really hard to promote these homes. My fear is that most people don't even want to consider them for owner-occupancy, so they end up getting bought by speculators who do shoddy rehabs and rent to (often) problem tenants. This is a bad cycle which hurts certain neighborhoods disproportionately and must be broken.

Corey, I'm glad to hear that ours decent comparatively! It's often hard for people to see the potential behind properties like this, even though many of them (at least around here) really are totally salvageable... especially at such a price.

Johnny, I'm glad you like it, and as I told J, the only disappointment was that they left out our chance encounter outside of that last house! I'm told that bit was priceless... and I believe it. Luckily it seems that it will surface on another site at some point in the near future.

Regarding the chance encounter... yeah, I'm confident that will surface when they complete their big documentary.

I did indeed get a blog post done linking to the video on Minn Post.

Feel free to go to the comments section of my blog and ad your contact info for anybody who is interested.

This video is a great piece of documentation but, let's face it, it's also not going to be bad for scaring up a few more clients.

LOL, true Johnny.

Also, here's an interesting note: I just got a call from the selling agent on the last (pigeon) property. His clients purchased this house and closed on it and now the city/county have order its demolition.

Ach, here we go again...

Alright, 2 things I noticed.

#1 You are just like how I was when I was sifting through distressed houses a year ago. Pointing out the cool things to restore while walking right past plaster holes you could park a Volkswagen in. I think sometimes I visualize things done without visualizing the horrible process of getting there!

#2 What a fashionista Realtor! What other Realtor would wear heels on such an outing? Toting her yellow purse up into the attic and the bowels of the basement. Lookin' good even when the houses aren't, huh?

I saw the video on MinnPost first-- you should have seen my double-take when I spotted your name. Congratulations to you and 612Authentic on the great and timely video.
